Director, Research and Consultancy

After training as a business assistant Tanja Merkle studied sociology, political science and educational science at the Université de Paris Sorbonne, the University of Heidelberg und the Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium). She graduated with a Master of Arts degree. Ms Merkle is member of the professional organisation of the German social and market researchers (BVM) as well as of the German Sociological Association (GSA).

Tanja Merkle was born in Pforzheim in 1970 and lives in Heidelberg.

After working in the private consulting sector, adult education and in the printing and graphics industry for several years, Tanja Merkle turned towards market and social research in 1998. She worked as a research manager for GIM
Gesellschaft für innovative Marktforschung until 2007 before she started an employment at the Sinus-Institute in Heidelberg. At the Sinus-Institute she worked as a senior researcher & consultant and was member of the management board. During her employment she worked with clients from the fields of social research and marketing research and gathered experience in the areas of education, public institutions & foundations, environment & mobility, media & publishing as well as in healthcare, beauty and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG).

In her work, she focuses on the examin-ation of themes like socio-cultural change and the analysis of specific target groups including their everyday life aesthetics and communicative stylistics. In addition, she was responsible for the conceptual design, planning and implementation of a forum for dialogue on target group strategies (Heidelberger DialogForum für ZielgruppenStrategien) that was established in 2010.
At Lab4Innonvations her focus is also on the field of qualitative research and empirical consulting, especially regarding

research on target groups, marketing and communication. She is an internationally acknowledged and highly qualified researcher as well as a specialist for the implementation and further development of creative methods and procedures for marketing and social research, workshops and moderations.

Tanja Merkle contributed to several book publications and published a number of magazine articles. She is active as a lecturer throughout Germany and a much sought-after speaker and interviewee.
